Hi everyone. I’ve been a victim of bird mites. I’ve noticed a lot is scary stories online and I’m terrified. I noticed the bird mites about four weeks ago in my bedroom. Immediately I called my building’s exterminator who came and sprayed my bedroom ac unit, which contained a birds nest. I noticed my dresser, which is next to the ac was infested, as well as everything else close to the ac. So from this website I clicked on the link to find a license professional. He came the very next day, right after my old ac unit and the bird’s nest was removed. We installed a new one. And right after the exterminator came and sprayed my entire apartment. He fogged out my room, and sprayed down my dressers, bed, and pillows. Honestly, I have seen some since the extermination, but my exterminator said that’s normal – once they touch the residual he sprayed all over they will be gone. The exterminator reassured me constantly they won’t re-infest.

Also, everything he used was organic. I was really concerned about the chemicals because I have children.

My advice – don’t try to do it yourself. Get professional help. And pray!

Along with everyone else I’m going through anxiety. I’m exhausted doing non stop laundry – just to make sure. As a mother worrying is never ending.

Please take my advice and get a professional exterminator – I know it can be pricey, but worth it.

      Best to all of you.

Recommended Treatment Provider

We recommend you use a licensed professional to address a bird mite problem. Don’t wait or the problem will get much worse and more expensive to treat. We have a list of pest control companies that are specifically qualified to treat bird mites.

  • They come to your house for no charge and give a free estimate.
  • Even if you decide not to use them, you get free professional advice.
  • Most pest control companies have never dealt with bird mites before. You need to use a bird mite specialist.

Follow this link to find a Qualified Local Exterminator near you.

Keep in mind that if bird mites are not treated correctly, even if the correct chemicals are used, they can become resistant to those chemicals. Don’t use a pest control company unless they have extensive experience treating bird mites.

Also, many of our readers have followed up with (or used outright) natural solutions and pesticide-free, such as on our Treatments Protocols page Follow this link to that page.
