I got “introduced” to mites through the laundry room in our apartment building in early 2020. To date I still have them.
After reading everything I could get my hands on, including an exponential amount personal testimonials, I still don’t know any fool proof way of getting rid of them.
One of my biggest frustrations has been that my personal physician of some 20+ years has told me it is all in my head. That almost put me over the edge! From my experience, doctors aren’t much help anyway. And the medications they DO PRESCRIBE don’t work.
I’ve also read that this problem needs to be handled additionally by a pest control company that “specializes” in mites. That’s a joke. Just try to find one that really does. Most say they do.
With all that being said, this is how I am managing my situation:
- I have eliminated the clutter and dust collectors in my apartment.
I vacuum and dust frequently. - All clothes in drawers are in re-sealable plastic bags, as well as sheets, towels, linens, etc.
- Dirty clothes are kept in sealed plastic bags, then washed in hot water and dried for an additional 20 min. on hot after they become dry.
- I shower daily with sulphur soap, and wash my hair with tea tree oil shampoo.
- Every night I use full strength CLEAN GREEN on my hair. I shampoo it in and let it dry on its own (either before bed or in bed). This product has been a life saver for me keeping the mite population in check and keeping them from crawling and biting. The enzyme in the product breaks their bodies eventually killing them and their eggs. I couldn’t live without it. I purchase it on line through Natural Genesis (also available on Amazon).
Question: I have been very concerned and afraid of contaminating others with my mite infestation. I don’t have any company in my apartment and to date, I have not gone into anyone else’s home. Any feedback others could give regarding how they are handling socializing would be greatly appreciated.
